Will my metal roof rust?
Question by S. Peterson from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
I’m concerned that exposure to rain, snow, and ice will cause my metal roof to rust. How long will my metal roof last before it begins to rust?

To follow up: If your roof were to rust, and it’s under warranty, then attempting to clean off or coat the rusted area may void your roof’s warranty. If that were the case, you should call us immediately, and we’ll have someone inspect the issue as it could be a serious (but rare) manufacturing defect.
If your roof is out of warranty, you can attempt a patch of your own by cleaning the surface of rust completely, prime it, paint it to match, and coat it with an acrylic resin. Everything you need you can find at any big-box home improvement retailer (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.).
